The Mukteshwar Temple or the Mukteshwar Dham is a 550-year-old Shiva temple perched on top of the veterinary institute’s campus which is the highest point of the town. The town derives its name from this temple. Built on an elevation of 2312 meters, the view from the top of the temple is absolutely stunning.
It is an important religious place for the Hindus. The Shiva Linga is made of marble with a copper yoni. A flight of stone steps leads all the way to the sacred sanctum of the temple. One can also offer prayers to Lord Brahma and Lord Vishnu at this temple. The temple is thronged by devotees on Mondays and during Shiv Ratri.
